Over the years I have enjoyed music at some extraordinarily good and special venues. Here are a few special favourites:
Based near to Nottingham, the wonderful people at Farnsfield Acoustic put on an exlectic range of gigs from some of the bigger names on the Folk circuit. It is always a treat to see them in a small venue. Venues vary. They are mostly village halls in Farnsfield or other nearby venues. Some do not have bars so check the details. You may need to bring your own drinks. I've seen some great acts there including:
and others
This beautiful and tiny venue is in the heart of the North Oxfordshire countryside but only a short distance from the M40. Concerts are by invitation only. (Join the mailing list to get invitations). John and Frances who organise the concerts are lovely and welcoming people and it's always a special occasion. I have had great evenings there with:
In November I'll be back there to see Ric Sanders & Vo Fletcher
Amongst Camden's many music venues The Green Note stands out for the quality and breadth of the acoustic music performed there. Jazz, Blues, Klezmer, Folk and other styles from around the world. In particular it is the home of Folk on Monday. Organised by Graham Smallwood, Folk on Monday has beenm responsible for many a great night. When I was working in North London a few years ago I would be at nearly all the Folk on Monday gigs and many other Green Note gigs. They are too many to list, but include:
and many others.
